Port Lavaca is close enough to Victoria that we are out here constantly, and far enough onto the bay that the building details change. Wind-borne debris requirements, elevation certificates, salt exposure, and windstorm inspections are all part of the conversation before we ever pour a slab.

Homes here tend to run coastal-casual — light exteriors, metal roofs, elevated decks or porches on the lots with a water view, and open interiors built around entertaining. Plenty of families want a big covered outdoor kitchen for when the fishing is good and everybody ends up at your house.
